BETWEEN HISTORY AND LEGEND

The weeping of Christ, the tears shed for a land of Paradise lying on the land of Men. The legend and history of the wine produced by the Sorrentino company intertwine to form a sublime and fascinating material, in which the sacred and the profane mix and give life to a magical tale of flavor and faith. A path full of aromas and beliefs, all played around a new Nectar of the Gods.

Lucifer, the angel of Evil, expelled from Paradise managed to steal a piece of it and brought this piece of Eden with him to earth, thus forming the gulf of Naples. Grieved by this loss, Jesus Christ began to weep and shed tears right on Vesuvius; from these sweet tears vines and a grape with an angelic flavor arose: Lacryma Christi.

THE EARTH

A WINE FROM VOLCANIC SOIL

The unmistakable peculiarity of Vesuvius wines and of all that is grown on Vesuvius lies in the exceptional nature of the volcanic soil. The Vesuvian volcanic area is the largest in continental Europe as regards explosive volcanoes that are still active, even if dormant.

All the lands where the company vineyards are located are located on the south-west sidet where the numerous lava flows that have reached the sea have enriched the soil with minerals, stones pumice, lapilli and made it very fertile, with high porosity and drainage. This constitutes an initial defense against pathogenic attacks and above all guarantees the authentic conservation of the ungrafted vines.

ENOGASTRONOMICI

Tenuta Sorrentino: a Vesuvian family. At the foot of Vesuvius, in the municipality of Boscotrecase, our welcoming home-cellar was born 300 years ago where for five generations the footsteps of our tradition of Vesuvian agriculture and viticulture have followed one another in producing the legendary Lacryma Christi; here, in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park, extend our 35 hectares of vineyards which represent an arena where the experiences of our ancestors and modern studies find the right combination! Anyone can visit our estate and feel part of our family, savor the volcanic soil that forges our wines and the genuineness of our products. An experience of the senses: the terrace where the grandparents used to have a frugal meal; today it is a welcoming and modern room that stands out on the Sorrento peninsula, Capri and Pompeii; the strictly kmzero open kitchen managed by mum Angela, the olive groves and fruit trees are just the frame of our canvas. Vesuvius is the most admired natural spectacle ever and it is an honor to be part of its landscape!
